What is it?

A veterinary medical acoustic tractor beam is a groundbreaking technology that utilizes sound waves to manipulate and move objects, liquids, or particles. This innovative technique has been developed to assist veterinarians in non-invasive procedures, specimen collection, diagnostics, and treatment options.

The main concept behind the acoustic tractor beam is to use ultrasonic waves to create a force field that can attract, repel, or suspend objects in close proximity to the animal. By precisely controlling the acoustic waves, veterinarians can manipulate objects at a microscopic level without the need for traditional methods.

This technology holds significant promise in various veterinary applications. It can be used for targeted drug delivery, allowing medications to be delivered directly to specific areas within an animal's body with minimal invasion. Additionally, it has potential applications in surgical and non-surgical sample collection, surgical glue application, precise topical medication/chemotherapeutic delivery, veterinary drug development, and more!

Furthermore, this revolutionary technology opens up possibilities for non-invasive surgeries and procedures in animals by eliminating the need for incisions or invasive tools. It could potentially minimize patient discomfort and recovery time while offering more precise and controlled interventions using highly cytotoxic agents.

Eventually as this technology progresses the needle will be eliminated.

Evidence

“Of the 1535 dogs and 416 cats treated in 12 weeks, 28.3% (16.3% dogs and 12% cats) had at least one case of nosocomial infection.” - Ruple-Czerniak et al., 2013

“62% to 88% of injuries to human health care workers by sharps can be avoided through the use of safer devices” - Needlestick safety and prevention act., 2000

“A survey of veterinary technicians identified that needlestick injuries are very common, with 210/226 (93%) technicians reporting at least one needlestick injury over the course of their career. One hundred sixty-seven (74%) had experienced a needlestick injury during the preceding year. Exposure to animal blood and various drugs was common. It was particularly concerning that needlestick injuries involving chemotherapeutic agents and prostaglandin were reported.“ - Weese et al., 2009

“Female veterinarians handling cytotoxic drugs during their pregnancy had a two-fold increased risk of birth defects in their offspring” - Shirangi et al., 2014

“Contamination prevalence of ophthalmic materials ranges from 11.7% for ophthalmic solutions, 28% for ophthalmic medications, 54% for slit lamps, 76% for handheld lenses, and 82% for sterile ultrasound biomicroscopy probes. Similar information for diagnostic equipment in the veterinary field is limited to a single report describing a contamination prevalence of 58.6% (17/29) for slit lamps used in a veterinary ophthalmic practice.” - Gentile et al., 2020

GravityVet Terms & Conditions

All GravityVet products use an array of acoustic ultrasound emitters which are not thought to cause damage to human or animal hearing at this time but appropriate ear protection is recommended at all times during operation for all staff, owners, and animals in a 15 foot radius of the active devices. The GravityVet products are capable of holding solids, liquids, and semi-solids of the appropriate mass. Attempts to use a solid, liquid, or semi-solid which is too massive may result in the solid, liquid, or semi-solid coming in contact with the device and damaging or destroying the GravityVet device. Never point or hold the GravityVet Products directly on the eye, ear, or chest of an animal or human as this is not the intended use of the GravityVet products and may have unforeseen consequences. While the GravityVet products are touchless devices and are promoted to be used in a sterile environment they are not designed to be autoclave sterilized, washed, or heated above normal room temperature dry conditions.
